Anyone who’s ever been to our ReStore knows that it’s a gold mine for treasures just waiting to be given a new life. From doors to light fixtures, the raw materials are there. All they need is a bit of inspiration and some elbow grease.
The idea of the DIY Challenge has become a great way to Re-Use, Re-Purpose, and of course, Re-Store items into works of art and amazing pieces of furniture. If you have the designers touch or just want to try your hand at it, come in to the ReStore and pick out an item that you think you can turn into something special. Each participant is welcome to free items from the ReStore to be used specifically for their project. All items should be submitted to ReStore by March 15th, 2016.
For local inspiration, check out Habitat’s Pinterest page to see what others have done with old building materials and their imagination, or these local businesses: Marmie’s Empty Nest; Sweet Serendipity .
From March 16-19th, the ReStore will have all the DIY projects on hand for you to vote for the best creations. The creations with the most votes will be displayed for a full year with credits to the individual or organization that created them. The remaining items will be sold to help raise money for this year’s build.
